Losing your job is a terrible experience, but it is made even worse when a company goes under. Being fired is one thing, but when a company goes under much more than just the job is lost. This can include the value of stock purchased, stock options, retirement accounts, and much more, to say nothing of all the work, effort and emotional energy put into a business. This is made even worse and continues to carry negative effects when out looking for a new job and having no verification of the previous employment. There are many defunct companies where the employment records were not preserved. In this case, we have a process to reconstruct these records though research and contact information we collect. We are most interested in businesses that have failed recently, although we will accept records for companies that have failed within the last five years provided they are large enough. We do not have an arbitrary minimum size, each situation is considered on various merits. The sooner after the business fails, the more useful the records are.

If we do not have any demand for human resource references for your company, we will still accept them and store them until such time as there is interest, provided they are in a database format. You will be notified when there are requests and you will receive a commission based upon our rate for old records.

If the records are in paper form, we can not accept them until such time as there is a demand for one or more of them. We urge you to preserve and keep those records safe until such time as they are needed or our suggested time period has expired.

Commissions for the records of defunct companies are based on how long the company has been out of business and the number of former employees it had. Former employees include all the employees that worked for the company at any time within the last five years, not just those separated when the company went under. Commission rates range from 5 percent to 15 percent.
