The best solution results from an operating company signing up with Blue Planet before operations cease or a bankruptcy petition is filed. Once a bankruptcy petition is filed things get much more complicated. If offices are abandoned or property auctioned off, then the company is not in a position to use our service. In the operating situation, relevant Human Resources records can be provided to Blue Planet and the account can be set up and operating in advance of employee separations. In this case the company can notify employees of our services, the telephone number to use for references and other information. We can provide a brochure to give to each of your employees. Your employees will know that you are thinking about them and are showing some consideration for their situation.

In the ideal situation, the company prepays for our services, typically for one month or more. Advance payment is required, there are no terms. Employers will receive a quotation from us based upon the number of employees, the form of the employment records, and the length of the term of service. Separated employees will receive employment references at no charge and without delay. References are provided by live operators. We provide a dedicated 800 toll free number, or a local direct number depending upon the employer's preferences.

If separated employees require references for more than the one month or other period paid for by the employer, then they can sign up for additional months at their own expense. The monthly fee has a significant discount for employees of companies that have prepaid for at least one month of service.

If the company has no funds for our prepaid service, they can use our free service. Our free service is free for the employer when HR records are in a database format. Our normal rates apply for employees desiring to use us for job references. We will provide the employer with a brochure for each employee explaining our services and how to use them. We also urge employers to include our website URL on the final paycheck stubs.
